GSA Reps Meeting

  1. Retreat Review:  suggestions, comments, questions?
    1. Invite committee members/Valhalla managers?
    2. Future social events, communicating alcohol policy information, etc.
    3. Pick a couple of issues from retreat to discuss at each Reps meeting
    4. Divide into 2 days?  Harder to get everyone together for 2 days

 

  1. Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Association (PAGSA) constitution approval:  APPROVED

 

  1. Buckyball Grant:  requesting $500.
    1. So far this year, only gave grant money to English Corner
    2. Grant fund has $2500/year
    3. Should advertise availability of money
    4. Agreed to give $250 to Buckyball

 

  1. Enrichment Grant ONLINE now; advertise with your departments.  Add to announcements.

 

  1. Proposal for changes to GSA by-laws
    1. Multiple reps issue:  ok to have multiple reps, but need to have one primary contact.  Proxy voting was not included in these changes to the by-laws.  Will bring up proxy voting at a future meeting
    2. Historian:  elected or appointed?  Should be elected and part of Executive committee (because part of job is to deposit proceedings/etc to Woodson Research Center).
    3. Changes APPROVED

 

  1. Halloween Party, October 28th, 8pm-2am
    1. Volunteers: Kris, Neeraj
    2. Visa or American Express gift cards (instead of Target)

 

  1. Service Committee Volunteers:  Mike Contreras, Karla Newton, Micah Nicolo

 

  1. Lounge Committee Volunteers:  Raul Gonzalez, Eileen Meyer, Kristjan Stone

 

  1. Honor Council Nominees:  Arjun Prakash – APPROVED

 

  1. MTVu discussion/opions
    1. Students can make movies, commercials, etc.
    2. Free channel
    3. Not replacing RTV
    4. Most graduate students won’t see it, only those at RGA
    5. Year trial period?
    6. May bring concerts to campus/political figures
    7. More a matter for undergraduate students, grad students don’t care . . .
