GSA Reps Meeting

May 16, 2006

  1. New Reps:  Rochelle Evans (Psychology), Laurie Stevison (Ecology & Evolutionary Biology), Mike Perham (Chemistry), April Smith (Bioengineering)
  2. Additional members for Orientation Committee? 
    1. Currently have 6 people, but would like about 8.  Laura Pena (Mechanical Engineering) and Maria (Earth Science) volunteered.
    2. The changes to orientation for this year include having speakers in the beginning of the morning followed by breakout sessions later in the morning.
  3. GSA Lounge, Furnishing Committee proposal:
    1. Main colors: brown/beige/black
    2. Couch, 2 armchairs, table/chairs, stacking tables
    3. Don’t have prices yet.
    4. Need to tell the university what we would like (type, color, etc).  want to place order in early June
    5. Don’t know what the budget is.
    6. Cristina will prepare and email a document with what is proposed along with prices, etc.
    7. Other things:  tv, bookshelves (games, books…), bulletin board
  4. GSA Retreat Planning Committee
    1. Jeff Shafer will plan again this year
    2. Micah Nicolo, Jordan Miller, and Michael Contreras volunteered to help
  5. Kudos to Priya:  new glossy poster plotter to be installed in Mudd
  6. Rice Wine Society
    1. Want to hold a wine-tasting during summer for ~$10 @ Valhalla
    2. Wine would be bought through Valhalla
    3. Include food?  Cristina will check
    4. Good idea?  Yes, but maybe have it at Farnsworth instead.
  7. Hedgehopper Silver Saver Cards - $500:  Update
    1. Alternatives to paying for the plastic cards:
      1. List on website of places that give discounts
      2. List in Yellow Pages
    1. How did they used to pay for the cards?

    3. Passed around the t-shirt design
    4. Got volunteers for various shifts
  4. Next TG:  Micah will be in charge (Friday, June 9)
