'The Linguists' screening at the UN Film Festival

You are invited to a small FieldFest event put on by the Linguistics Department to raise awareness of disappearing languages, cultures and the importance of language documentation.

As part of the UN Travelling Film Festival the 2008 documentary 'The Linguists' will be
shown at 1pm, on November 8 (Sunday) at the Rice Media Center. Following the movie, a panel of field linguists will reflect on fieldwork experiences. A reception will follow at 3pm.

60 tickets for graduate students are sponsored by the generous GSA TG Fund, and they will be available on a first come first served basis. In order to ensure that graduates in all departments doing fieldwork, be it linguistic, ethnographic or oral history related, get to see the movie, we are reserving some of the tickets. reserve yours. You can pick up the tickets early next week (place / time TBA) or before the movie.
