Dear Rice Students, Faculty, and Staff
The Graduate Student Association is inviting nominations and applications for the position of GSA Faculty Advisor to succeed Dr. Robert Patten.
Scope of responsibilities: The GSA Faculty Advisor enhances student governance at Rice University by working with the GSA, as well as other faculty, administrators, and alumni. S/he primarily provides advice and mentoring to the GSA executive board and GSA council. The Faculty Advisor has few official responsibilities, but may also choose to act and advocate on behalf of the GSA, through channels ranging from formal committees to informal conversations. S/he should expect an average weekly commitment of two or more hours to this position.
Qualifications: The GSA Faculty Advisor should be a tenured member of the Rice faculty interested in advancing graduate student issues, both academic and non-academic. Nominations & Applications: Nominations and applications should consist of a CV, a letter delineating the candidate's interests and qualifications, and three references (at least one graduate student and one non-student).
