Deepotsav 2009

Indian Students At Rice (ISAR) invites you to attend Deepotsav '09 - The Festival of Lights. Deepotsav '09 is a celebration of Diwali, an important festival in India. Deepotsav will be an opportunity to experience many forms of Indian culture, with lively entertainment, art, and food. The evening includes performances of Indian folk and Bollywood dances by Rice students, Bollywood music by the live band Heartbeats, all followed by Dandiya, (a fun group folk dance with easy-to-learn footwork and a pair of sticks) in which all are welcome to participate. There will be an exhibition of Indian art, and a professional Henna artist to do designs. A grand Indian dinner will be served.

The event takes place on Sunday October 25, at 4:30 pm at the Grand Hall. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for students, and free for children below 8. Tickets must be purchased in advance at RMC ticket booths to get the student discount. Information on ticket booth timings can be found at http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~isar.
