Wellbeing Director

Trenton Piepergerdes

My name is Trenton Piepergerdes and my pronouns are he/him/his. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I moved to Nashville, Tennessee to get my Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University in 2015. From there, I decided to attend Rice to pursue a PhD in Bioengineering and have been immensely happy with this decision. The Rice graduate student community has demonstrated, time and time again, that it values high-quality research and happy, healthy lives. As a student, I worked with the Bioengineering GSA, as well as founded and ran the Queer Graduate Student Association. I also love to run, play volleyball, read, cook, and explore the city!

I have recently become passionate about graduate student mental health and am so grateful to be in this new position centered around improving graduate student wellbeing. I hope to ensure that every graduate student feels valued, heard, and supported. Further, I hope to work with the university to create institutional policies to support graduate students.
