I was born in Japan and grew up in Bellevue, Washington. I earned my BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. Here at Rice I am part of the Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces (MAHI) Lab where I work on robotic systems and wearable devices. Outside of research, I like to mountain climb, backpack, river raft, rock climb, and SCUBA when I find the time (and I save up enough money!). Most days though, when I can’t go on an outdoors adventure, I like playing my guitar with a good cup of tea. I’m looking forward to building the GSA community by helping plan events as GSA programming director this year!
